Caching provides a great excuse to go exploring. We love to hike, so playing with the GPS on hikes makes it that much more fun. We've been directed to some spectacular spots that we would have otherwise never found.

Get the whole story and search for your own caches at Geocaching.com.

We have decided to start a frog collection. Anytime we find a frog in a cache, he goes home with us to live with the others. Check out the Frog Log.

Our Travel Bugs:
Home Boy Bug - mission is to get to Canton, GA and back to California. Finally launched on 12/11/2006, placed in The Ranch.

Magnetic Personality - Cool car magnet with the tracking number printed on it, for other cachers to discover. Launched on 9/22/2007, naturally placed in The Ranch.

the MonkeyDawg   Monkey with The Geek TB picked up at ASTRONOMICAL! Cache and dropped off at Transcontinental Transportation History.

Lyn is our youngest. She works the sheep at home, but is not very good at it. She is, however, an excellent caching dog. She can boulder & scramble like nobody's business...sticks to rock like a lizard, and can out-hike just about anyone.

Check out Lyn's photo journal for some featured shots.

lake   Lyn with her caching pal Tuckerdog looking for Zion on New Year's Day, 2007.

Great walk, beautiful views...a good time was had by all.

 #100 Find:

Jumpin' Juniper near Kirkwood, 1/7/2007.

This is another beautiful lake that was very quiet on the day we chose to snowshoe in. We have really come to enjoy hides by Scoobert.

This was also an FTF!

 #200 Find:

Welcome to Cronan Ranch, 3/25/2007.

We have been spending a lot of time at Cronan Ranch, which we have labeled "the world's largest playground". There is just about everything you could want there - steep, high peaks with breathtaking views, a decent-sized river for boating, and Hastings Creek for splishy-splashing around and cooling off the Geo-dogs.

This picture was not taken from the cache - this is from the top of one of the highest peaks. As of March 2007, Cronan Ranch has about 80 Geocaches covering its 1500 or so acres.

Click for Cronan Ranch hides on Geocaching.com (uses 2 mile radius from CR Vista Point).

 #300 Find:

Cache It If U Can, 5/26/2007.

We spent Memorial Day Weekend camping near Silver Lake with our good friends notofTHISworld. Weather was perfect, hikes were fun, and a good time was had by all.

We straight-lined it from the campground, which was a big mistake. See that big mountain in the picture? We went down that. Do not try this at home!

 #400 Find:

Green Briefcase, 10/29/2007.

We were in Pleasanton to meet Lady MonkeyDawg's Dad for brunch, so after we hooked up with Tuckerdog and went hiking at Morgan Territory. Weather was perfect!

We used to hike up there alot when we lived there, a long time ago BGC ("Before Geocaching"). I had forgotten how nice it is.

 #500 Find:

Follicular Elevation, 4/6/2008.

It took a little planning, but this 3 1/2-star terrain Scoobert hide near Silver Lake was a great snowshoe hike. I convinced my buddy GeoRana to come along and endure a few he already found so that I could set this up as #500 and an FTF!

We scored 3 FTFs that day, all Scoobert hides! Woo HOOO!

And check this out - another caching friend, "M" of tmkbk sent me this engraved coin! How cool is that!

lake    All-time favorite cache:

Pahatsi near Soda Springs / Serene Lakes.

This is a beautiful lake at the end of a beautiful hike. The hide was so very clever, the owner knew exactly what mistake you will make. Don't want to say more in case you make it there...
